The 2002 Florida State Fair had an exhibit that featured the 2001 Miss Budweiser World Champion Speedboat. The technology in this thing is fascinating. It weighs 6750 lbs. and has a top speed of 225 mph. It is 30 feet long and 15 feet wide. The canopy was adapted from an F-16 fighter and the cockpit has an integrated roll cage molded into a composite nomex core which surrounds the entire cockpit.  The pilot is secured by a five-point harness and he has an individual air supply.

The engine is a T-55 L-7 shaft turbine from a Chinook helicopter - it produces no thrust, but rather transmits power to the three-bladed stainless steel propeller, which has a 16-inch diameter and 26 inch pitch. The turbine produces 2650 horsepower and turns the output shaft at 15,330 RPM. And it only weighs 600 lbs!
